Cleopatra didn’t die for love. Like Mark Antony, who killed himself because there was no longer a place of honour for him in the world, Cleopatra chose to die rather than suffer the violence of being paraded, shamed and helpless, through Rome. Augustus had to make do with an image of her that was carried through the streets instead.
When she and her father was back in town, Berenice was beheaded and brought to the kind and Cleopatra to prove it. There was the whole thing, head, blood and all. If I was Berenice, I would've done the same thing, to take over the kingdom for a short period of time, protesters can make Alexander garbage if no one was in charge, I didn't think that Berenice deserved to be beheaded.
We believe it is right that if you are assessing and managing risk competently then you demonstrate that you are doing so. This is fair for the professionals involved, and the organisation they work for.
We also don't see Cleopatra's development. We don't see her grow from a child of 12 to a young woman of 14. The diary doesn't show us her thoughts or attitude in politics or any changes in thoughts she might have considering Rome since she spent a lot of time there.
This is not a bad book—in fact I enjoyed it quite a bit when I was younger and read it often—but this get more info time I was just a bit bored and decided to quit rather than push through and get into another reading slump.
Wouldn't it be so much more interesting to see Cleopatra slowly give up her nice Disney-princess traits to become a strong and intelligent leader who will do whatever it takes to assure her survival? Even if it means developing intimate ties with 'barbarians' as she calls it.
